Rye is a pretty little town, near the coast in East Sussex with lots of medieval and normal architecture dotted around its cobbled streets. It would have played a key role in England's defence against the French and the 14th century Ypres Tower harks back to this time and the Martello Tower references more recent battles. Sheep roam the marshes on the outskirts or Rye and the River Rother runs past, a haven for wildlife, leading down to the sea.
