Winter Stag Appearance is an original oil painting of a red deer stag in a white winter forest. It is 48x36x1.5 inches. The stag is slightly art nouveau and contemporary in style and appears to be appearing or fading into the willowy trees and the snow around him. The first layers of the painting were of warm colours with the stag is painted in detail but later use of liberal white paint have made him more ethereal. The inspiration of the painting was from some images I saw of the red deer in Richmond Park a few years ago. It seems that whatever the season, deer have the ability to appear and disappear at will which add to their appeal for me. This painting is largely white but there are muted tans, pinks, lilacs and oranges visible through the snow. Painted on deep edge canvas, edges white, no frame needed and comes with certificate of authenticity and gifts from the artist.
